Jade Green Gaiwan (Set)
* Special Collaborative Edition
Designed for tea, this gaiwan set brings together the beauty of hand-cast glass and the practicality of porcelain.
Created through a collaboration between Glass Artist Yuxue and Ceramic artist Wang Shu, the set pairs a delicate glass lid and saucer with an exceptionally thin porcelain gaiwan. While the porcelain body remains comfortable to hold even with hot tea, the glass components reveal the changing qualities of light, bringing depth and quiet elegance to the tea ritual.
The moss green glass features a clear, softly frosted surface, carved to recall the gentle traces of raindrops on weathered stone. Deep green drifts through the transparent glass like moss after rain, while tiny air bubbles formed during firing lend the material subtle depth and a quiet sense of life.
Each glass component is individually handcrafted using pâte de verre techniques. Variations in color, texture, translucency, and bubble formation are natural characteristics of this intricate handmade process, making every set one of a kind.
